On 6 May, our Lyc\u00e9e fran\u00e7ais Moli\u00e8re marked a very exciting milestone. \u2018La Chorale des \u00e9l\u00e8ves\u2019 made its public debut at the R\u00edo Ebro Civic Centre; a project that has brought together 32 pupils from our school around a shared goal and which, in the words of those involved, \u2018has gone far beyond the strictly artistic\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a special, intimate and well-organised event. From the nerves felt in the days leading up to the event right through to the moment just before taking to the stage. There was a magical atmosphere throughout, shared by the students, the organisers and, of course, the audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative was launched this academic year by Ms Pumari\u00f1o, a music teacher, with the aim of creating a space for social interaction through the power of the voice. As Mme Pumari\u00f1o explains, the result has exceeded initial expectations: \u201cThis project has gone far beyond what I expected thanks to great teamwork and, above all, it will be an experience that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the school\u2019s management, the choir is no longer just an extracurricular activity; it has become a key educational tool for the pupils. Mme Ang\u00e9lique Haudiquer, headteacher of the Lyc\u00e9e fran\u00e7ais Moli\u00e8re, emphasises that this project enables pupils to \u201cbuild self-confidence, improve their oral expression and develop their ability to adapt\u201d. It is truly heart-warming to see how pupils of different ages and year groups shared sheet music and rehearsals over a few weeks to present us with this performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice of repertoire was no accident. The pieces performed were closely linked to the core values we uphold as an institution. As the director pointed out during the event, the choir performs songs that reflect Moli\u00e8re\u2019s values: \u201csolidarity, openness to the world, consideration for others and altruism\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no denying that it was a very moving concert, in which the students managed to convey a range of emotions through their voices. The 32 performers showed that all their hard work in rehearsals, along with their dedication and commitment, had paid off. The students all shared the same sentiment: \u201cThere\u2019s so much energy, and we\u2019ve also been working with friends on music we hadn\u2019t heard before,\u201d remarked one of the students after the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert\u2019s finale, met with applause from the families and the school community who were there with us, made it clear that \u2018La Chorale des \u00e9l\u00e8ves\u2019 is here to stay at the Lyc\u00e9e fran\u00e7ais Moli\u00e8re<\/a>. Will you be joining us for the next issues?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
